Its #ForeverFriday and our special boy, Zain found his forever sibling. Zain is important to us and it was going to take a special family to appreciate his unique personality and help him with his limited eyesight.
It was love at first sight 💓 👀when Zain met his new Dober sister Onyx. These two instantly hit it off. We feel confident that with Onyx by Zain's side he will not only have a friend for life, but someone to look out for him. Best of all, they both now have a momma that loves them. 🐾💜🐾
For #TwoLeggedThursday we want to introduce you to the newest member of the DU rescue family. Roo or King Rooney the 14th (as his foster mom has nicknamed him)👑💙 has faced and fought through much adversity in his short life and still has ways to go!
In January, at just one month old and too young to be away from his mom, Roo was found inside a paper bag in a shopping cart.😢 The people who owned the mom probably assumed he wouldn’t make it since he was born without front legs. They were wrong - very wrong!
The good samaritan that found him surrendered him to their local animal shelter in Ohio. As if this rough start in life wasn’t bad enough, he then became sick with parvo. This boy has heart, spirit, and definitely a strong survival instinct!😍
The shelter originally thought he was a Dachshund, but Roo quickly grew and they realized he was a Doberman. That is when they reached out to multiple rescues and, of course without hesitation, we stepped up.
Roo is now 7 months old and is your typical dober boy! He is happy go lucky and doesn’t care that he’s missing his front legs! When Roo met with our Veterinarian, they informed us his shoulder blades stuck out under him and needed to be removed to make his ability to get around more comfortable.
Roo underwent surgery yesterday and is recovering with his nurturing foster mom. The cost of the surgery alone is $1,300 and this does not include other expenses for medicine, other medical testing, physical therapy, special harnesses, and a cart to allow him to move like a dog and even run.❣️
If you wish to help with Roo’s medical expenses and other needs, please donate below or on our website http://dudobes.org/donations/donations/. Donations in any amount will truly help us rehabilitate Roo more quickly.
THANK YOU ALL for your continued support. We would not be able to continue to save these dogs without you.❤️
