Sable is a beautiful girl that was found roaming the streets of Detroit. The vet estimated her to be 6 or 7 years old and she seemed to have a great deal of discomfort. Doberman Underground was called in to help and immediately took her in. Sable has arthritis and was diagnosed with Wobbler’s. She must have been in quite a bit of pain while on the run! She is now taking Rimadyl (Carprofen) to manage her pain and inflammation. In April, Sable received a stem cell treatment but it has not provided her much relief. Her foster mom says Sable is moving around a little better and is wanting to use the stairs. Sable is a gentle, affectionate girl that loves being with her people. She has a few special requirements for adopters. A ranch style home would be best, as she needs assistance with stairs. She is interested in cats. If the cat runs, she will chase it (not fast, and not far) or if the cat says “no” she will respect it. She gets along with dogs of all sizes, but a canine companion would need to be low energy so as not to jump on her or knock her down. She loves children, and would do well with older, respectful kids. Little ones may unintentionally hurt her by laying on her or handling her too roughly. Sable will snap a warning if she is hurt, not trying to bite but just saying “stop, that hurts!” Sable is a part of our Phoenix Fund and you can read about the assistance that Doberman Underground will give with the adoption of Sable. Are you able to open up your home to this sweet, special girl and give her the love and care that she deserves?
