My journey with Doberman Underground started with something as simple as a transport. I’ve always loved the idea of rescuing dogs, and my wife introduced me to this incredible organization when she brought a Doberman into my life. After that first transport, where I helped a dog reach her new owner, I was hooked. The feeling of making a difference was undeniable.

A couple of years later, Gwenn reached out to ask if I’d be willing to drive a longer distance to help with a large group of dogs in Georgia. Instead of multiple drivers and legs, I suggested we take my horse trailer and make one trip to bring them all home. My wife and I loaded up the truck and trailer and headed south. After a quick stop at a hotel, we drove to the location where these dogs—17 Dobermans and Nobermans—were being kept, victims of a hoarding and breeding situation. Fueled by coffee and road snacks, we made the long trip back, unloading the dogs for vetting at another director’s home.

The following weekend, I drove back down with the trailer to personally deliver each dog to their foster homes. However, one of those dogs, Pixzee, had already stolen our hearts. After her vetting, she rode shotgun with me on the way back, joining our family. That experience—rescuing these dogs and finding them their forever homes—solidified my love for rescue work. Shortly after, I was honored to join the Board of Directors for Doberman Underground, and I’ve been dedicated to helping dogs in need ever since.
